Eighty Sixed

"Eighty-Sixed" is a play on the slang term meaning "to throw out," "to get rid of," or "to refuse service to." Originating in the 1930's . It is also the number of the Tampa Bay Lightning's Nikita Kucherov (Никита Игоревич Кучеров).

 

This 30 x 40 x .75"  portrait is an example of the artist's signature "wash" technique, and features the Bolts  right winger and alternate captain. Kucherov is one of the best hockey players in the world, having won Hart Memorial Trophy (National Hockey League's MVP), Art Ross Trophy (league's leading scorer), and the Ted Lindsay Award (best player voted by fellow NHL players) for the 2018–19 season, along with winning the Stanley Cup twice with the Lightning, in 2020 and 2021.

 

Number 86 is well known to "Eighty Six" the competition.
